Hi there, I so wish we could be face to face over a coffee at the Kaiya Designs studio! You could see the amazing clothing in person, and hear my heart rather than read it J
I had the privilege of being born into a Christian family. My dad & mom instilled in me at a young age the importance of faith. I accepted the Lord as my Savior at the young age of 4. It was at that age that I experienced the power of prayer. My younger brother was born prematurely just months before my 4th birthday. Due to complications at birth, he was placed in the NICU and in, what at that time 30 years ago, was still considered to be an experimental life saving device. This device while helping save his life, caused neurological issues which ultimately led to him having cerebral palsy. For the longest time, my brother was the biggest part of my testimony, and telling others how I grew to know Christ.
It wasn’t until 2007 that I realized the importance of praying specifics, and praying for yourself. I was a new graduate from USF with a degree in Exercise Science, and in need of direction that really only could have come from God. In 2008, I married my college sweetheart, and faced perhaps the hardest years of our marriage from then until 2013. It was then that I realized I had been searching for an identity that could only be found in Christ. I was finding my identity in being a good wife (proving the naysayers wrong), in being a good employee, being a runner, being the best friend, etc. In 2012 after the birth of our first son, I fell in the darkness of post-partum depression, and it was then that I resolved to find Christ. To really search for Him, and have Him meet me in my darkest hour. I dove into Bible studies on my own. What was written for only a six or eight week time span, took me months & months to complete. I had to be purposeful, and I had to fight every seed of doubt that the enemy attacked me with.
So began my passion & desire to grow in Christ, and to help other women cultivate their own passion for Him! I started facilitating small Bible studies at my church in 2015 and have also had the opportunity to contribute to a quarterly newsletter for women called “Beloved”.
My movement is a Faith & Fitness Movement. My passion is to help guide women towards a walk with the Lord where they find their identity in Him. In a world that is constantly stealing joy through making someone feel less than adequate, to the Lord, YOU are HIS world. By finding your identity in Christ, the other aspects of your life will fall into place. My other passion is to help guide women towards a healthy mindset when it comes to their own health & fitness. Helping them find QUALITY information in the realm of health & fitness, where more often you’re bombarded with gimmicks that have no benefit. With a degree in Exercise Science under my belt, I have come across many in the health & fitness field that share my mindset in that, we need to be smarter about our health! Health & fitness is not a “one size fits all”.
My movement is going to look different over the months to come, but my passion remains the same. I want to afford women the opportunity to grow spiritually & physically.
To kick off my movement, I’m partnering with the Proverbs31 Ministries. Lysa Terkeurst & her ministry provide free resources for those looking to grow their faith. These resources include: the First 5 app, daily devotionals, social media content, and downloadable resources. It is an awesome starting point for anyone looking to grow their faith.
